For Internet Resources in Canada
By using http://www.canada.com as a search engine, you can limit your search to Canadian sites. Unfortunately when you pass the first page, you cannot specify Canada only, so you will have to type http://www.canada.com into the URL window and go to the first page each time for each separate earch. Using the back button does not accomplish this.
FAS Search tips
Typing in “FAS” alone as a search criterion resulted in the following “hits”.
http://www.google.com/ 748,00 hits
http://www.dogpile.com/ 2,005 hits
http://hotbot.lycos.com/ over 10,000 hits
There are a number of acronyms that include FAS that will thwart your search on the web, for example: Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Federation of American Scientists, Fixed Assets Software, et al.
For example, typing in “FAS” searching http://www.dogpile.com/ yielded 2,005 hits but “FAS/FAE” yielded 2 hits; while searching http://www.google.com/ gave us 152,189 hits for “FAS”, using “FAS/FAE” yielded 1,156. While “FAS/FAE” does help reduce the number of mismatches, some FAS related sites do not use the “FAS/FAE” or “FAS/E” designation.
When http://canada.com was set to search Canada alone, a search on “FAS” yielded no results but “FAS/FAE” yielded 47 hits. Surprisingly “FAS/E” yielded 1987 hits and included the similar result as FAS alone worldwide, and this search criterion also gave us Federation of American Scientists, Faculties of Arts and Sciences”, etc.
If you are searching for “Alcohol Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder” do not use “ARND” as
Arnd is a very common German name and you will find almost all of the Arnds in Denmark,
Germany and America seem to have a website.

This is an advanced training manual for professional and paraprofessional trainers who want to expand their knowledge of fetal alcohol syndrome and fetal alcohol related conditions. Trainers who use this manual will be able to develop presentations for various types of audiences, i.e., parents, teachers, social service professionals, medical and treatment providers, as well as community groups. The manual contains modules that discuss seven major topics related to fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) and fetal alcohol related conditions. Each module includes training content ideas and suggested training materials such as overheads, handouts and other resources related to the theme of the module.

Be warned there are a lot of sites about drugs. Searching for "beer" on http://www.canada.com yielded 628,042 hits and http://www.google.com gave us 277,000. Examples are: "drugs" 551,000; "street drugs" 237,997; 49,200 mentioned "LSD" and we found 65,700 for "marijuana".

As most cities have their own police services, we simply don't have room to put them all here. A search for "police" on http://www.google.com yielded 748,00 hits, http://www.dogpile.com, 2,005 hits and http://hotbot.lycos.com/ gave us the phrase "over 500,000". The best way to find your own police service in your area is to type in "police" and the name of your town or city. If you have no luck use the county, province or state you reside in. Or you could try the Phone Book.
